While in NYC, what's one thing you'd like to do?
I am on an intense mission to win tickets to a Broadway show through the lottery system. I enter at least 5 different lotteries on a daily basis, only to be devastated by the 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM rejection emails. One day, it’s going to happen. Stay tuned…

What advice would you give your former self about the application process?
I know all too well that this is easier said than done, but try to take a minute to stop obsessing and scrutinizing over every detail and allow yourself to actually enjoy the application process. I didn’t fully appreciate how unique this process is until I was in the heat of Super Saturday, and that’s largely because I had been so focused on trying to perfect my answers and plan out every step of the process. When I let myself go and “improvise” parts of Super Saturday, I found myself laughing and feeling so much more comfortable and confident. This is one of the few application processes that allows you to be creative and expressive in nontraditional ways, and if you let yourself, you can have a lot of fun taking part in it.

While in NYC, what's one thing you'd like to do?
I want to experience all the festive stuff NYC has to offer for the holiday season. In DC we had a lighting of the Christmas tree at Union Station each year. If there is an NYC equivalently, then I will definitely be attending.

What advice would you give your former self about the application process?
I think I was just myself on my application which honestly helped me through the interview process and everything else. I would tell someone applying to be genuine and authentic because Ogilvy is looking for diversity in thought and character! So why pretend to be anyone else or someone you think they want when being yourself is enough? I think the program so far has helped me to be more analytical and insightful in the way I approach challenges and tasks, and more creative in my executions on projects, ideas and finding ways to connect and relate to others.

While in NYC, what's one thing you'd like to do?
I want to continue to explore some of the incredible restaurants that NYC has to offer!

How have you seen personal growth through the Associates Program so far?
Though it has only been a few months since we started, I have seen myself grow immensely. I think one of the biggest things I have learned so far is to not be afraid to ask questions.  There are an incredible amount of experienced individuals at this agency, and I have learned that if you take the initiative to seek guidance, many will want to help you through this process.

While in Chicago, what's one thing you'd like to do?
I've been wanting to try this underground ramen shop that people rave about. I've already tried to go once, and the wait for a table was nearly five hours — I'm still determined!

How have you seen personal growth through the Associates Program so far?
The Associates Program has been both a great learning opportunity and transition period for me. It's rare to have the opportunity to change roles so often, which has allowed me to figure out where I fit best and develop an unique perspective of the agency.

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

What advice would you give your former self about the application process?
Ogilvy isn’t looking for cookie-cutter individuals. Just because you may not fit the exact descriptions or characteristics of previous Associates, doesn’t mean you can't be an asset to the program. Trust your uniqueness and individuality when applying and interviewing.

I look forward to being in the same city as Pitchfork Music Festival! I thought their headliners last year (LCD Soundsystem, Solange and A Tribe Called Quest) topped most festival line-ups.

What advice would you give your former self about the application process?
Although the acceptance statistics can be intimidating, remain confident in your ability while taking the time to learn all you can about Ogilvy’s history and how that plays into its future. Remain self-assured in what you know while learning as much as you can!

While in NYC, what's one thing you'd like to do?
I want to take the time out to visit every museum! Sadly, I haven’t had the chance to do so yet.

What advice would you give your former self about the application process?
Be more confident in yourself and your life’s experiences!  Just because your undergrad major wasn’t communication or advertising doesn’t mean you are any less qualified than the next person.  So far, this program has immensely made me step outside of my comfort zone. I have become a better communicator and I have a lot more confidence in myself than I could ever imagine.  I’m being open minded and taking it one day at a time —– skills my former self could have absolutely gained tons from.

While in NYC, what's one thing you'd like to do?
I want to check out the Fat Cat jazz bar in midtown. Apparently they always have a live jazz band. Hoping to catch a Ryan Gosling sighting.

How have you seen personal growth through the Associates Program so far?
I’m only a few months into my first rotation and I’ve already learned so much about myself and what I want to do. Or maybe I should say don’t want to do, which is just as important. I was someone who came in with a very strong opinion about where I wanted to place — I was sure of it. Three months later, I’m questioning everything… but in a good way. I’m learning to look at myself and not just think about what type of work I like doing, but what my style is in terms of teamwork and interacting with other people. The program really helps you discover what’s right for you beyond the titles.

While in NYC, what's one thing you'd like to do?
Go on a tour of Ellis Island. Despite visiting the city about a dozen times throughout my life, I still haven’t done this!

How have you seen personal growth through the Associates Program so far?
I don’t know if I would call this growth per se, but I certainly have become aware about how much I don’t know. Not that I ever thought I knew everything, but I think what’s become clear is the magnitude of the knowledge gap between myself and most people in this office. It’s certainly one of the most motivating things I’ve experienced in my life simply because I’m here — if it wasn’t possible for me to one day be at that level, I probably wouldn’t be here in the first place.

Hometown: Mobile, AL

While in NYC, what's one thing you'd like to do?
I'm so excited to be living in a city where good music and artists come through, so I've got to get to some concerts while I'm here!

How have you seen personal growth through the Associates Program so far?
I've always been extremely analytical, but this program is helping me take that critical eye and turn it on myself in a positive and constructive way. Not everyone is able to handle feedback, and sometimes the toughest critic can be yourself. Learning how to reflect on my own projects has been challenging, but after every assignment I take a moment to review my work and compare it to what was published to see what information was kept, edited or added. Through this, I'm learning how to better tailor my work for future assignments, and since doing that, my drafts look more like the final edits each time! It's empowering to know that I managed up not only for the team but also for myself, and learning a skill like that so early on will be a great asset in the future!

While in NYC, what's one thing you'd like to do?Something I’m planning on doing in January is auditioning for a choir in the city!

How have you seen personal growth through the Associates Program so far?
When I first started the program, I would often make excuses for my work or downplay its worth when I turned it in. I’ve now realized that, if I’m turning in my best work, I need to present it as such!

What advice would you give your former self about the application process?
Trust the process. Sari does a great job of matching us to rotations that we’ll learn the most from, and I think it’s helpful to keep an open mind as you apply. In other words, you don’t have to know exactly what you want to do within Ogilvy for this program to be right for you.

I want to visit the One World Trade Center and the September 11 Memorial.

How have you seen personal growth through the Associates Program so far?
I have seen myself grow through the Associates Program through my level of confidence. I am comfortable in a room filled with executives – excited and eager to make relationships with them. In this short time I’ve been at Ogilvy, I now believe in my ability to address concerns of the greater and come up with ideas in a strategic and meaningful way. Being a grownup is kinda fun!

Major: English

While in NYC, what's one thing you'd like to do?
You might call me a foodie, but one of my favorite parts about living in NYC is being able to discover new foods and flavors from all over the world. I’ve heard that the Chinese food in Flushing, Queens is some of the most authentic you can find (even beyond a trip to Chinatown), so I’d like to make a trip out there one weekend.

How have you seen personal growth through the Associates Program so far?
A lot of this job is about thinking creatively and adapting to new situations. You might go into it thinking you want an account rotation, only to discover that you love strategy work, and that’s okay. A job like this in a large ad agency is all about change, both internal and external, so take some time to reflect on what you’re good at, what could challenge you and where you can find the opportunity to explore those things within Ogilvy.

First rotation:
OgilvyRED
Second rotation: Account Management, EY

Hometown: Harare, Zimbabwe

School: Duke University

Major: Political Science and Public Policy Studies

While in NYC, what's one thing you'd like to do?
I would love to run the New York City marathon, watch comedy at the Apollo, attend at least one late-night show shooting (Trevor Noah literally works down the street from this office), go to a Brooklyn Nets or New York Knicks game… I can't only choose just one thing when there's so much to do!

What advice would you give your former self about the application process?
Leading up to my interview, I was overwhelmed by just how massive Ogilvy is. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to speak coherently about all the divisions it has, all the creative work done, or all the clients it has worked with. So if I had to interview for this job all over again, I would tell myself not to worry about my lack of familiarity with all the practices within Ogilvy and how they fit together. You just have to find the few practices that most intrigue you, or the creative work that has resonated with you, or the brands we have worked with that appeal to you — then just talk about that. Good luck!

I really want to visit The Met and The Cloisters Museum!

How have you seen personal growth through the Associates Program so far?
Being pushed out of your comfort zone is the only way you will continue to grow, and through the Associates Program I'm continuously being challenged and pushed into projects and tasks that I once would've thought would be out of my comfort zone.
