How would you describe your morning routine?
I am lucky enough to live very close to work, so my commute is about a ten-minute walk and I get in around 9 or 9:15. I check my calendar on my phone on the walk here so I know what’s on my schedule for the day. Once I am in the office, I usually spend the first 30 minutes responding to emails and catching up on the news.
What is your staple work outfit?
Jeans! Anyone that says you can’t wear jeans is lying. So I typically wear jeans and a nice top with either booties or converse. Oh, and I have blanket at my desk that I am always using, so that really completes the look.
What kind of projects are you working on right now?
I am currently in an account rotation so that means I have some projects that happen every day or week like clockwork in addition to whatever else gets thrown at me that day. I have been doing a lot of work with the monthly email updates my client sends out, as well as working on putting together a deck describing measurements of our current campaign.
Where do you go for lunch?
More often than not, I actually bring my lunch to work. I typically sit downstairs in the café, or on the roof when it is warm enough. However, I do get a smoothie from the café every Friday morning. Also, it’s hard for me to pass up when they are serving tacos for lunch. On those days, my packed lunch will stay in the fridge until the next day.
How do you break up your work day?
I am lucky to sit pretty close to some fellow associates, so I will typically go have a five-minute conversation with one of them to break up my day, in addition to grabbing lunch with any other associate that’s eating at the same time as me.
What is your favorite spot in the office?
I have two favorite spots. The first is a gimmie: the roof. But I also really like the view from the backside of the 11th floor. They have a couch, and a lot of Ogilvy’s awards are on display there.
How do you wind down after a long day at work?
In all honesty, I am pretty boring after work — I'm exhausted! Usually I go home, drop my stuff off, and go to the gym. Then I will come back home, cook dinner, and turn on Netflix to whatever I am currently binge-watching. I do try to do one cool or new thing in the middle of the week to have something to look forward to. Whether that is meeting friends for a happy hour, trying a new restaurant, or just exploring one of the little parks in the city, it helps to make the week go by faster.
When you're not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
I am not a native to New York (North Carolina, raise up!) but I have been finding my way around. I love going and finding some green space. It helps me feel less enclosed by all of the high rise buildings. Other than that, I try to explore new parts of the city with friends. There is always an event going on, and even if I have no idea what it is, it's fun to just join in on the festivities. For instance, last week I accidentally stumbled upon a street fair and had the best egg waffle of my life.
