How would you describe your morning routine? What do you typically do?
I normally get into the office between 9 and 9:15 a.m. I sit down, check my email and then grab some coffee from the kitchen on my floor.
Commuting in a big city, what is it like and what tips do you have about it?
Commuting can be really tough. I’m from Los Angeles so I’m used to driving everywhere, which in New York can take twice as long. The subway is definitely the way to go, but they don’t always run on time. I like to give myself a 10-20 minute cushion, especially on days when I have early meetings.
What is your go-to work outfit?
My team is pretty casual so normally jeans, a nice shirt, boots, and a sweater work well!
What is something you always have at your desk?
Water is always at my desk. I normally have coffee as well! Oh, and lot’s of pens. I always end up leaving them in meetings so I need an endless supply!
What is your favorite spot in the office?
I think my favorite spot in the office is the roof (when it’s nice out). The view from the 11th floor is also pretty awesome. It’s super cool to look out at night and see all the lights from Time Square.
When you know it is going to be a challenging day at the office, what helps keep you motivated?
I like to have things planned for the weekend. That way when I know I’m going to have a long week or day I have things to look forward to.
Also, I always try to remind myself how lucky I am to be in this program. When the days are really long, I try extra hard to note all the things I learned that day or the cool projects I have been a part of so far.
What kind of projects have you worked on so far in this current rotation?
I am working on a new campaign as well as a new cancer drug. Both are super interesting. I really enjoy healthcare because it feels like I’m a part of something bigger than myself and I’m doing some good for the world!
Lunch break! What do you do for lunch?
It depends on how busy I am! Normally I just eat at my desk, but some days I walk to different restaurants nearby. My co-worker introduced me to Juicepress. I love it! It’s pricey though, so when I do go, it’s definitely a treat!
What do you wish someone had told you day one?
People did tell me this day one, but I wish I would have listened and took it more seriously. They said, "You are going to make mistakes. Mistakes are good, as long as you learn from them. Nobody starts out perfect or ever will be perfect. When you do make a mistake wipe it off and move forward!"
How do you break up your work day?
A trip to the kitchen to grab some coffee or down to the cafeteria always helps break up the day. When I have time and it’s nice out, a walk around the block also feels great!
If you had to pick, what has been your favorite thing about working at Ogilvy?
The relationships I’ve built with co-workers! I have met some really incredible people that are super successful.
Are you involved in any professional networks? If so, which ones and what do you like about it?
Not yet, but planning on joining Ogilvy’s Young Professionals Network!
Hell’s Kitchen – what is a cool local spot/restaurant/shop around the office you have found that you love?
Kavah, a coffee shop right around the corner, is a favorite of mine. Also, Juicepress, but that’s only when I want to ~treat myself~.
How do you wind down after a long day at work?
I love to walk, so instead of taking the Ogilvy shuttles to Port Authority I normally head to the subway that way. I’m also a huge TV person. I love to sit on the couch or in bed and watch my favorite shows after a long day.
When you are not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
I love to roam. I live on the Lower East Side so there is a lot to explore. We are right by SOHO so we like to find new coffee shops and restaurants. That’s the thing about New York, you can walk the same street a hundred times, but you always see something different or discover something new!
Ogilvy Facts 101 – what is something interesting you have learned about Ogilvy as a company?

If you get to leave the office early…
