How would you describe your morning routine? What do you typically do?
I usually wake up around 6:30AM and turn on my Jill Scott + Erykah Badu radio to get my morning started with some positive, soulful vibes. I drink tea, catch up on emails and simply chill before leaving for work.
Commuting in a big city, what is it like and what tips do you have about it?
I live uptown so planning ahead is truly important, especially knowing that delays are pretty common in the city. Other than that, I’d say pack light. There will be times when you’ll be squished in a subway cart at some point, and carrying a lot of things is always inconvenient.
What is your go-to work outfit?
What is something you always have at your desk?
A fork and a spoon. There are times where you might have to eat at your desk so be prepared.
What is your favorite spot in the office?
The recording studios down in H&O are always fun to go to. There are snacks, drinks and it's always a good time!
When you know it is going to be a challenging day at the office, what helps keep you motivated?
Honestly, a silent prayer for strength, energy and patience. Nothing feels better than getting things accomplished, so it’s important to remind yourself that all will pass.
What kind of projects have you worked on so far in this current rotation?
Where do I begin? For this rotation I was assigned to be a Digital Producer, so I selected the animator for this upcoming project where we are creating GIFs for our client. Also, I have been able to attend photoshoots where I’ve met brilliant photographers. The production team is keeping me busy, but I love every second of it!
Lunch break! What do you do for lunch?
If I have time, I enjoy sitting on the 10th floor where I eat by the window facing Times Square.
What do you wish someone had told you day one?
“Ain't nothin' gonna break-a my stride / Nobody gonna slow me down, oh no / I got to keep on movin'” – if someone had quoted these lyrics to me on my first day, I think I would’ve been CEO by now. Regardless, stay positive and keep moving!
How do you break up your work day?
Get a planner!!! Organization is key.
If you had to pick, what has been your favorite thing about working at Ogilvy?
The people you meet and the stories they share with you.
Are you involved in any professional networks? If so, which ones and what do you like about it?
I am pretty active and/or present for the Young Professionals Network (YPN), the Women’s Leadership Professional Network (WLPN), Ogilvy Pride (LGBTQ+) and Black Diaspora!
Hell’s Kitchen – what is a cool local spot/restaurant/shop around the office you have found that you love?
Hell’s Kitchen is pretty great overall, but I am more interested in the graffiti, wall murals and tags that beautifully decorate (or hide) around the area. It’s pretty fascinating!
How do you wind down after a long day at work?
I enjoy a nice cup of tea, especially in these cold temperatures.
When you are not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
New York City can be an overwhelming place for people who grew up in small town/cities, so make everyday an adventure! Whether if I am with friends or chilling by my lonesome, I either go to local events, museums or explore new parks to sit and enjoy great vibes.
Ogilvy Facts 101 – what is something interesting you have learned about Ogilvy as a company?
There are a lot of talented, high-profile producers here at Ogilvy. They can literally do anything and deliver it well!
