How would you describe your morning routine? What do you typically do?
I typically like to get into the office early and get settled for day. I like to eat breakfast at my desk and read the Wall Street Journal to catch up on current events.
Commuting in a big city, what is it like and what tips do you have about it?
I live on the East Side of Manhattan, so my morning commute consists of taking the E train to the West Side so I can walk the rest of the way to the office. I like to walk to the office from the subway to get my bearings and help wake myself up.
What is your go-to work outfit?
My go to work outfit would be chinos and a button-down shirt, but I mix in some sweaters and henley shirts when I want to be comfortable on a big work day.
What is something you always have at your desk?
Without fail you will be able to find 1-2 cups on my desk. I always have water or coffee at my desk.
What is your favorite spot in the office?
My favorite spot in the office is Chuck’s Place on the 3rd floor. Usually, if there’s a meeting in Chuck’s, that means we’ll get to see all of the Associates together in the same room, which is always so much fun. Outside of these meetings, finding time that works with everyone’s schedules can be difficult, but planned sessions like this is a guaranteed way that I know I’ll see everyone, which is always exciting.
When you know it is going to be a challenging day at the office, what helps keep you motivated?
Something that helps keep me motivated is thinking back to senior year of college when I was dedicated on doing whatever it took to be able to come back to Ogilvy after my internship. Knowing that all of that hard work payed off, and that I have what I would consider my dream job, helps me keep things in perspective.
What kind of projects have you worked on so far in this current rotation?
So far, I have had the opportunity to work on many different projects in this rotation. I have been involved with a product architecture, engagement strategy, and an internal workstream project. Being able to work across different competencies and project types has helped me become a more well-rounded marketer.
Lunch break! What do you do for lunch?
For lunch, I am always a sucker for some Chipotle, which is a couple blocks away from the office. The Café downstairs is also my go to and they have a great selection. I always try to get lunch with fellow Associates, but eat at my desk when I’m busy.
What do you wish someone had told you day one?
Something I wish someone had told me day one: Don’t be intimidated to reach out to people for help when you don’t know how to do something. There are some things that as an entry level employee you will not know how to do, and asking for help before you get overwhelmed is important to make sure to meet your deadlines.
How do you break up your work day?
One of the ways I break up my work day is with a HQ break at 3 p.m. Playing this with friends is a nice way to reset before finishing off the rest of the day.
If you had to pick, what is been your favorite thing about working at Ogilvy?
My favorite thing about working at Ogilvy is the opportunity to work on different projects. Early in the program, I had the opportunity to help with a new business pitch for a company I admire which was really cool. The ability to see a pitch from beginning to end and all of the work that goes into it along the way was a great learning experience.
Are you involved in any professional networks? If so, which ones and what do you like about it?
I am involved in the Young Professional Network. I really like how focused they are on forming a community of young professionals within the company. Meeting others who are dedicated towards their career and sharing experiences with others is my favorite part of being involved in the network.
Hell’s Kitchen, – what is a cool local spot/restaurant/shop around the office you have found that you love?
My favorite place in Hell’s Kitchen would be the Sullivan Street Café shop on 47th. They have great coffee and pastries, and the most outgoing cashier who I always have a great conversation with in the morning.
How do you wind down after a long day at work?
After a long day at work, I like to go home and listen to some music and relax. Sometimes if its not too cold, I will walk all the way home and through Rockefeller Center for the scenic route; I love walking around New York City.
When you are not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy hanging out with friends and exploring new spots to hangout in New York. Currently my favorite place in the city is the Peter Detmold Park on the East River.
Ogilvy Facts 101 – what is something interesting you have learned about Ogilvy as a company?
Something interesting I learned about Ogilvy is how truly driven we are are by David Ogilvy’s passion for advertising and making brands matter. The passion to do good work for clients has transcended into an overall company mindset: advertising that is done correctly should be a culmination of creativity and effectiveness.
If you get to leave the office early…
I would go to the gym and try to get all of errands done that day. I don’t end up leaving the office early much, so I have to take advantage of it.

Free food can be very competitive at Ogilvy. Knowing which seminars and meetings order and usually have leftovers is crucial to being in the right place at the right time.
