Where do you go to college & what are you studying?
Washington University in St. Louis. I'm studying Marketing with minors in Communication Design and Writing.
Team you’re working on here at Ogilvy?
At Ogilvy we all work on one team: the human team. But specifically, I work on the account side of the Showtime Team. I coordinate meetings between our creative, strategy, and media teams, create decks of our social posts, write briefs, and draft the team newsletter. Sometimes I embarrass myself to keep morale high.
How would you describe your morning routine?
Every morning I wake up at 7:45 and spend fifteen minutes lying in bed wondering why did the chicken cross the road, really. Then I get out of bed and eat breakfast, which is usually Greek yogurt and then I realize maybe the chicken crossed the road because they had a Chobani flip on the other side. For the following five minutes, I attempt Beyoncé’s run in Halo; you know the one that goes like “hit me like a ray of sun / burning through my darkest ni-i-i-i-i-i-ghts”? You would know it if you heard it…as long as it’s not sung by me, in which case it would be unintelligible. Then I brush my teeth and walk to work (not at the same time). I would describe my routine as unconventionally mundane.
What’s your staple work outfit?
I like to remind everyone I'm from Florida by dressing in pants that clearly show I do not understand the concept of pants (I mean what good are they for, really?). On top of that, I usually wear a floral or patterned shirt with the first three buttons unbuttoned. I would describe my style as “it looked better on me in the store.”
Where do you go for lunch?
I usually bring my lunch, so I just eat in the cafeteria, but I'll go wherever my friends go so I can mooch.
What’s your favorite spot in the office?
Any elevator when I’m the only passenger in it.
When you’re not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
I like to run in Central Park, scoff at PDA, try different ice cream parlors, enter the uptown subway when I need to go downtown, jest.
How did you hear about Ogilvy & this internship?
In January I had a nightmare about applying for internships…so I guess you could say it came to me in a dream? I also heard about Ogilvy in my advertising class a few years ago, and it's always been top-of-mind ever since. Talk about good branding.
What do you think is special about this Ogilvy internship?
There are so many great things, but honesty it's the people! Everyone at the office is great, and this intern class is some of the best and the brightest! All the interns are so smart and fun. It's a good bunch. The Lunch and Learns are also a unique component that allows us to get a holistic perspective of the agency.
What do you wish you knew about Ogilvy before you started your internship here?
I wish I knew more about the type of work Ogilvy does. I always hear "advertising" but I think I rarely contextualize what that actually is. Also that Ogilvy and Mather is pronounced Ogilvy and MAYther. There goes the line for my future job application rap “When a client says which agency they’d rather / just tell them one: Ogilvy and Mather.”
What are you looking forward to in your senior year of college?
Having an existential crisis. And petting my landlord's dogs.
