What college do you attend and what are you studying?
University of Colorado-Boulder. Major: PR, Minor: Entrepreneurial Business
Team you’re working on here at Ogilvy?
I am working on the Social Strategy team this summer, adding value mostly to the analytical aspect of the operation. By main client is Synchrony Financial, however I also get exposure working on other accounts such as CareCredit and American Express Travel. A large part of what I do day to day is turn data and analyze social media posts. I get to see from a numerical point of view what we are excelling at in social, and where we can improve.
How would you describe your morning routine?
My alarm goes off at 7:45 AM and the concert promptly begins at 7:46. I play music and dance throughout my whole morning grooming session and then I’m out the door by 8:15. I live fairly close to the Ogilvy office but I still elect to take the 1 train for a couple of stops and get off on 50th Street. My ear buds get me through my morning commute as I simulate a throwback iTunes commercial by dancing my way to work. I must say, music fuels my productivity in all aspects of life.
When I get to the office I make sure I dap up Dan, who stands at the top of the steps of the lobby. We small talk for about 5 seconds and then it’s off to my desk where the work day begins. I start by checking my email and making a mental to do list in my head. After that, it’s go time! I chip away at that list until the moment I leave.
What’s your staple work outfit?
Some crisp navy blue slacks and a nice button down to compliment the pants. Oh and I can’t forget about my favorite watch, penny loafers, and glasses!
Where do you go for lunch?
Wherever my heart desires. I like to switch it up from the cafeteria and for some strange reason, I have been all over the tacos this summer. So whether that may be Gotham Market, Chipotle, or a couple of other local spots, I find myself taco in hand at least twice a week.
What’s your favorite spot in the office?
Either the Gym or the 10th floor lobby. People love the rooftop and it is a nice get away but that heat is no joke.
When you’re not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
I like to explore. They say you can live in New York your whole life and not see everything. If that’s the case, challenge accepted.
How did you hear about Ogilvy and this internship?
Everybody within the Marketing and Communications departments of my school would always talk about how prestigious of an agency it was, so I had to look into it. I never really knew how serious they were being until I decided to do a little personal research. My research led me the company’s LinkedIn page where I stumbled across their internship opportunities and it was history from there.
What do you think is special about this Ogilvy internship?
Ogilvy’s internship program allows young adults to immerse themselves in such a diverse, youthful, and dynamic work culture. The vibe and aura once you step foot into the Chocolate Factory is full of positivity and everyone around you is motivated and sees the same vision. Getting the opportunity to learn and grow from professionals that truly care about you is something special.
What do you wish you knew about Ogilvy before you started your internship here?
Nothing, I like being kept on the edge of my seat. After all, that’s what agency life is all about, right?
What are you looking forward to in your senior year of college?
I look forward to continuing to live my best life.
