What college do you attend and what are you studying?
University of Wisconsin-Madison; Political Science and Communication Arts.
Team you’re working on here at Ogilvy?
This summer, I am lucky enough to work with the Research and Intelligence Team. Instead of working with one specific client, we work with account teams across all of Ogilvy USA. I have truly enjoyed my time working in Research and Intelligence simply because of its dynamism. Almost every day we are tasked with a new research request that requires taking varied approaches and methods to accomplish. I consider myself to be a life-long learner, so I love arriving to work every day knowing that I will have the opportunity to learn something new.
How would you describe your morning routine?
My morning routine is, in a word, long. I am a very anxious person, especially when I’m working against the clock. I wake up at least an hour earlier than I really need to in order to allow myself the time necessary to select an outfit, manage my hair, and squeeze in one or two podcasts with my morning tea. I typically am out the door by 8:15 AM to enjoy a relaxed walk to work.
What’s your staple work outfit?
My staple work outfit is a dress. While some dress for style, I dress for convenience, and there is nothing more convenient than slipping on a dress and calling it a day.
Where do you go for lunch?
I cannot overemphasize how much I love the cafeteria here at Ogilvy. I’m keen on variety and that’s definitely what I find at the cafeteria. From the sushi to the global cuisine to the salad bar, I am always content to remain on-site for lunch.
What’s your favorite spot in the office?
My favorite spot is the kitchen table on the 9th floor. For me, this table is great place to sit and prioritize my day or just enjoy coffee with a friend. The view of the Hudson river is quite impressive.
When you’re not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
I’m a big fan of walking the High Line. Hailing from Connecticut, I often find myself needing an escape from the hustle of the city. The High Line provides this and the chance to see the city from a new vantage point.
How did you hear about Ogilvy and this internship?
I first heard of Ogilvy’s internship program when attending a PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) meeting on campus. Three account executives from Ogilvy-Chicago came to emphasize the value of Ogilvy’s internship program. Safe to say, I was hooked and I made it my mission to land a coveted spot in the program.
What do you think is special about this Ogilvy internship?
To me, Ogilvy’s summer internship program is special because of its emphasis on immersive learning. At Ogilvy, learning is not confined to the first two days of orientation; instead, it is deeply embedded in the culture of the program and the company. From our weekly Lunch and Learns, to meeting executives across all departments, to working alongside brilliant and seasoned professionals, I am learning something new every minute of every day.
What do you wish you knew about Ogilvy before you started your internship here?
Don’t be nervous. Walk in with the confidence to take advantage of the opportunities in front of you and expect to have an amazing summer!
What are you looking forward to in your senior year of college?
I’m really looking forward to reuniting with my favorite people. At college, I have been lucky enough to meet some of my closest friends and I want to enjoy as much time as I can with them before the year runs out.
