What college do you attend and what are you studying?
NYU, I’m majoring in Public Policy and minoring in Social Entrepreneurship
Team you’re working on here at Ogilvy?
I’m an Account intern on the Citizens Team and everyday looks different. I love that I’m constantly learning on the go and wearing many hats. Some days I’ll go to a lot of meetings, other days I’ll research on competitors, and sometimes I’ll even edit scripts.
How would you describe your morning routine?
I wake up to my “Here Comes The Sun” alarm every morning. Then, I try to start my day doing an activity or hobby that puts me to a positive start, and I switch things up every few weeks. In the beginning of the summer, I did calligraphy or yoga. Now, I’ve gotten into trying new breakfast recipes. Afterwards, I’m ready for my commute to the city from Brooklyn!
What’s your staple work outfit?
I love getting funky with my pants. I usually wear patterned pants, a causal shirt, and some comfy flats.
Where do you go for lunch?
I’ve become much better about bringing lunch to work every day. I typically go to the café or the rooftop with some of the other interns.
What’s your favorite spot in the office?
I love fresh air and the sun, so the rooftop is at the top of my list.
When you’re not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
I’m a native New Yorker, and I’ve recently gotten into taking small trips outside the city. If I get off early from work, you can find me biking in Prospect Park or exploring new restaurants or dessert places.
How did you hear about Ogilvy & this internship?
Shout out to SAYA! It stands for South Asian Youth Action. I’ve been active with this organization since high school, and a lot of the staff members have been positive role models throughout my college/career exploration. In January, I went to them for help, expressing feeling stuck on the same path. They encouraged me to try something different, and told me about this internship opportunity.
What do you think is special about this Ogilvy internship?
As cliché as this might sound, it’s honestly the people and how you can make anything happen. It’s great how approachable everyone is in the company and how people want to help you. I met a woman from the Ogilvy Women’s Professional Leadership Network (shout out to Bri!) who was interested in listening to my interests and passions around women’s empowerment and leadership. Next thing you know, she helped me plan a panel for the intern group to talk about challenges women face in advertising. At the beginning of the summer, I never thought that could happen.
What do you wish you knew about Ogilvy before you started your internship here?
To be curious and learn as you go. I didn’t realize how different everyone’s internship experience would be, so I think my best piece of advice is to be open to anything.
What are you looking forward to in your senior year of college?
There are so many things to look forward too! I’m excited to take classes that I’m passionate about, to continue doing research with a professor that inspires me to be inquisitive, and to plan upcoming events for UNICEF at NYU and the South Asian club that I’m involved with on campus.
