What college do you attend and what are you studying?
Yale University, studying Political Science
Team you’re working on here at Ogilvy?
I am an Account Management intern on the American Express team. My responsibilities vary from day to day, which is why I love being on Account Management. I get to experience all parts of the advertising process, from creative to production to strategy to finance and more. One of my consistent responsibilities is writing a biweekly competitive report to send out to clients and internal team members.
How would you describe your morning routine?
Wake up, go to the gym, get to work around 8:45, make coffee!
What’s your staple work outfit?
This is my favorite question. I love black and I love shoes, so usually some sort of primarily black outfit with fun shoes to spice it up.
Where do you go for lunch?
I usually bring my own lunch or grab sushi from the café downstairs.
What’s your favorite spot in the office?
The roof for sure.
When you’re not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
I love food, and I have a huge sweet tooth, so I’m always trying new restaurants and checking off dessert places on all of those “Top 10 Must Try NY Desserts.” You’ve definitely seen the BuzzFeed articles :)
How did you hear about Ogilvy and this internship?
My grandfather worked in advertising his whole life, and recommended I look into an internship in the industry. I was lucky that I took his advice quickly, because I applied for this internship about three days before the deadline.
What do you think is special about this Ogilvy internship?
Three things come to mind: One, everyone who works here is so friendly/cool/willing to help out … I could go on and on with positive adjectives. Two, the work is very hands on and there is a lot of learning as you go, which I love.
Three, working here is FUN! I’m the kind of person who enjoys working on new projects all the time, and facing and solving different challenges every day. The work on the Amex team moves at a pretty fast pace, which keeps everything fresh and exciting.
What do you wish you knew about Ogilvy before you started your internship here?
Other than its renowned reputation, I did not know much about Ogilvy before I started my internship; however, coming in somewhat blindly was a good thing for me in the sense that I had an open mind and I’ve learned so, so much. Every day I learn something new, whether it is familiarizing myself with one of Ogilvy’s iconic, groundbreaking advertisements or hearing a piece of advice that will stick with me forever. On an unrelated note, I did not know that the left refrigerator on each floor has communal milk/creamer for coffee until about 3 weeks into the internship, so I would go all the way downstairs to use the milk in the café every time I made coffee. Definitely wish I knew that from day one.
What are you looking forward to in your senior year of college?
I play DI lacrosse in college, so I’m looking forward to one more season with my team!
