Short Hills, NJ
What college do you attend and what are you studying?
Emory University. I am studying Business with a concentration in Marketing and Consulting.
Team you’re working on here at Ogilvy?
I’m on the New Business team. I've helped out on 6 pitches throughout the summer in some way. I create competitive appendices that compare the new clients' creative work to the competitors' and biographies of the clients coming to the pitch. I also sit in on pitch rehearsals, help set up for pitches and a lot more. When there is not a pitch, I do a lot of interesting research on companies we might reach out to and pitch.
How would you describe your morning routine?
Early. I wake up at around 6am to get ready. I used to take a 7:33am train to NYC and walk to the office. Now, I take a train to Hoboken, a ferry from Hoboken to New York and then walk to the office. I enjoy the ferry more than the train because it's a nice scenic commute.
What’s your staple work outfit?
My staple work outfit is either a nice dress and a cardigan or jeans and a nice shirt.
Where do you go for lunch?
Most of the time I bring lunch, but I really enjoy Gotham Market. It’s nice to have the various options there and I've gotten my fair share of pizza.
What’s your favorite spot in the office?
My favorite spot in the office is either the booths in the kitchen or the red couch on the corner of the 9th floor.
When you’re not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
I love to explore food (specifically dessert) places around NYC. I have a whole list of places I want to go to before summer ends. One of them, Treat House, has the best Rice Krispie treats I've ever had.
How did you hear about Ogilvy and this internship?
I first heard about Ogilvy through a two week BlackRock Family and Friends program I participated in two years ago. The program was an incredible experience and gave me a taste of what an ad agency is like. Every year since then I have waited to apply for their internship so I can get more involved. Ogilvy Atlanta presented at my school so I found out when the application for summer 2017 opened.
What do you think is special about this Ogilvy internship?
I think the Lunch & Learns are really special. It is great that people take the time to speak with us, and I have learned so much about the various specialties within Ogilvy. It is also a great opportunity to spend time with the other interns.
What do you wish you knew about Ogilvy before you started your internship here?
I wish I had a better understanding of the new OUSA (Ogilvy USA) structure.
What are you looking forward to in your senior year of college?
I’m looking forward to the marketing classes I am enrolled in, stepping into my leadership roles in my sorority and clubs, and continuing the dance program I started. I am also really excited to see my friends, some of them were abroad this past semester so I haven't seen them in a while.
