Old Lyme, Connecticut
What school do you attend and what are you studying?
I go to Boston University, where I am studying Public Relations in the College of Communication.
Team you’re working on here at Ogilvy?
I am working in PR on the corporate communications team. My primary client is the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), but I have been fortunate enough to work across multiple clients within the corporate practice. I have had the opportunity to pitch reporters, manage media lists, draft press releases and attend client meetings and events.
How would you describe your morning routine?
I usually get into the office and check my email. If there is nothing pressing, I grab a cup of coffee and begin reading the New York Times, AdWeek, and PR Week. I check in with my team at about 9:30 to go over the day and then get to work.
What’s your staple work outfit?
I typically wear dark jeans and a blouse for work. You know you’re in college when wearing jeans is “dressing up.”
Where do you go for lunch?
I try to bring my lunch as often as possible, but the cafeteria is amazing. Most days, I eat with my team in the fourth floor’s kitchen. Good food, great company!
What’s your favorite spot in the office?
The free coffee machine.
When you’re not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
I’m determined to eat as much guacamole as possible this summer, so you’ll find me at a Mexican restaurant with chips in hand.
How did you hear about Ogilvy and this internship?
I heard about the Ogilvy internship program through my friend, Martine, who interned at Ogilvy two summers ago. She and another friend, Michael, loved Ogilvy so much that I knew I had to apply.
What do you think is special about this Ogilvy internship?
The reason I chose this internship was because of the integrated advertising and PR program. I am so happy to have gained advertising experience despite being enrolled in the public relations program.
What do you wish you knew about Ogilvy before you started your internship here?
Relax – they’re human too!
What are you looking forward to in your senior year of college?
Ogilvy introduced me to parts of the industry that I never knew existed. I am excited to select classes based on these new interests and see where they take me. Also, I’m excited to spend time with my friends and figure out how to stay in college forever (minus the cost of tuition.)
