On August 7th, in collaboration with the Ogilvy Women’s Leadership Professional Network (WLPN), three interns from our class organized a panel about Women in Advertising. This panel, aimed at fellow interns, hosted four panelists across different departments, ranging from project management, to planning, to creative. The panel emulated the themes of challenges, barriers, mentorship, and ownership that resonated within the stories of the panelists.
This panel represents some of the best parts about Ogilvy and our internship program – first, that these professional networks exist to promote a diverse and inclusive culture within the company. Other groups include the Administrative Professional Network, Black Diaspora, LatinRed, Ogilvy Doonya, Ogilvy Pride, Red Lotus, Salute, Working Parents Network, and the Young Professional Network.
Secondly, the fact that interns are encouraged and supported to join and engage with these groups, like Nahima, Priyanka, and Catherine did. Finally, as demonstrated through the panel, people who work here truly care about helping interns learn more about the industry and advance our careers in whatever way possible. Interns are encouraged to meet with other professionals in departments across the company for coffee or informational interviews to gain insight into what it means to work across all aspects of advertising.
Thank you to the WLPN and Nahima, Catherine, and Priyanka (pictured below) for making this event happen!
